Bayanda Walaza and Glenrose Xaba were both rewarded for their outstanding 2024 seasons at the annual Athletics South Africa Awards this weekend.

Walaza won the Male Junior Athlete of the Year after he won the sprint double at the U20 World Championshiops in Peru, as well as earning the silver medal at the Paris Olympic Games in the 4 x 100m relay (which also happened to be his Olympic debut).

Xaba made her marathon debut at the Cape Town Marathon last year, and not only took the win, but also broke the South African record in the process, earning her Female Outside Stadium Athlete of the Year.
