In sport, as in life, women face many unique challenges and obstacles.
Idea
Girls Only Project, a non-profit company, was created as a way to tell more female athlete’s stories and get the conversation started about the real issues women in sport face such as body image, mental health, sexual harrassment and inequality. On the ground research was aslo missing, and so a research arm of GOP was developed.
Impact
In South Africa, Girls Only project has a first of its kind ambassador programme and podcast. So far over 5000 girls and women have been impacted and the podcast has listeners in over 20 countries. GOP is also the only organisation in South Africa that is dedicated to women in sport research, and our findings have already informed various projects and programmes.
