Agency athletes came away with 7 medals at the Sizwe Medical Fund Athletics South Africa National Track & Filed Championships this past weekend.
The first day saw Victor Hogan defend his title to take gold in the Discus, while Phil-Mar van Rensburg won bronze in the javelin.
It was then the sprinters turn the following days, with Gift Leotlela winning silver in a time of 10.16 (after a blistering 9.94 in the semi-finals) and Thembo Monareng bronze in a time of 10.33. Boipelo Tshemese came 3rd in the very close women’s 100m.
In the men’s 400m hurdles LeRoux Hamman ran an outstanding 49,70 to take gold, and Wenda Nel won the women’s race in 55.60 to secure her 9th National Title – after running a World Lead time of 55.58 in the semi-finals.
Other athletes to make finals were Constant Pretorius and Andre Erasmus in the men’s 400mH, and Jada van Staden in the women’s event, and Phindile Kubheka in the women’s 100m.
