Records fell and history was made by Agency clients this weekend at the Athletics Gauteng North Championships in Pretoria.
First up was Rio silver medallist Luvo Manyonga who, with a jump of 8,62m, broke the South African and African record by a massive 12cm and bettered his own PB by 14cm. This was the longest jump in the world for the past 8 years and puts Manyonga 12th on the all-time list.
Next up was 18-year-old Olympian Gift Leotlela who broke the SA Junior 100m record in a time of 10.12s, beating the old mark previously held by current senior SA record holder Akani Simbine by 0.07s.
Finally, in a historic race that saw, for the first time on South African soil, 2 men dip under 10s for the 100m, Thando Roto ran an outstanding 9.95s, bettering his PB by 0.23s and in the process becoming only the 5th SA man to post a sub-10s. This time was also qualifies Roto for the Senior World Championships to be held in London later this year.
Other Agency athletes who also won their respective events were Wenda Nel, Taylon Beildt and Cornel Fredericks.
