Newton Sports Agency announced on Monday that two of South Africa’s most promising young sprinters – Gift Leotlelo and Clarence Munyai – have signed an exclusive marketing and management agreement with the agency.

The 18-year-old Leotleo, who has a personal best of 10.20 in the 100m and 20.56 in the 200m, holds the SA Youth record in the 100m and is also the 2015 Commonwealth Youth Games champion and the 2016 SA Junior Champion.

Munyai, also 18 years old, is the number 1 ranked junior in the world in the 200m with a personal best of 20.36 and 10.28 in the 100m.

“I think that Newton Sports has been really dynamic and active over the past few years and they have all the right ingredients to assist me on this exciting new journey in my running career,” said Clarence.

Gift said: “I am excited to join the company that has expertise not only in managing my running schedule but in sports and athlete marketing as well so that I can focus on winning on the track.”

Both athletes are currently at the TuksSports High School at the University of Pretoria where Gift is in Grade 12 and Clarence in Grade 11. The pupils leave for Europe this week to compete on the European circuit and will also see action in several Africa Championships later this year.

Clarence will also take part in the 2016 Rio Olympic Games in Brazil in August after meeting the ASA qualifying standard twice in the 200m before he blistered his way to win at the South African Senior Championships in Stellenbosch in April.
