Clarence Munyai, the South African 200m record holder, showed impressive form at the recent Athletics Gauteng North Championships where he won the 100m and qualified for the World Championships in Oregon, USA in July.
Munyai ran 10.04 in the heats, 10.05 in the semi-finals and 10.12 in the finals.
Other athletes winning gold included Sinesipho Dambile who won the men’s 200m in 20.64s, Brian Raats the high jump, and in the women’s events Caster Semenya the 5000m, Gelnrose Xaba the 10 000m, Phindile Kubheka the 100m and Benele Shabang the 200m.
