In an exciting match up in the 100m, Gift Leotlel, in a come from behind race for the line, won gold in a World Championship Qualifying Time of 9.99s, with Bayanda Walaza only 0.01 behind in 10.00 – also a World Championships QT.
In the 200m, Sinesipho Dambile also had to work hard to retain his national title, putting in a fast last 50m to take the win in 20.11s from exciting junior, Naeem Jack, who ran 20.13 to qualify for the senior World Championships as a 17 year old.
Not to be outdone, Glenrose Xaba won her 14th national title in the 5000m in a time fo 15:27.95.
