World Junior Record for Munyai

Agency clients produced some outstanding performances at the IAAF World Challenge Meeting in Ostrava, Czech Republic, last night.

The highlight of the evening was young Olympian Clarence Munyai, who ran a 31.61s in the 300m to break the World Junior Record and move to 9th fastest ever over that distance. “Clarence said he wanted this record and I am so proud of the huger and focus he showed in the race to become the first U20 athlete ever to break 32 seconds. Congratulations to him and Hennie Kriel his coach for such an incredible performance” said Lee-Roy Newton, group MD. In the same race Isaac Makwala placed 2nd in a new Botswana National Record time of 31.44s which places him 4th on the All-time list.

Not to be outdone by the men, Gudaf Tsegay broke the Stadium Record in the 1500m in a winning Seasons Best time of 4.00.96; and Rikenette Steenkamp was only 0.05s outside the South African 100m hurdles record, placing second in a new PB of 12.99 – the first time she has broken the 13s barrier.
