Isaac Makwala became the first man in history to run a sub 20s & 44s on the same day, when he won both the 200m and 400m at Friday evenings IAAF World Challenge meeting in Madrid.
Makwala started with a 43.92s in the 400m and just over an hour later took the World Lead in an outstanding 19.77s in the 200m, which is also a new Botswanan national record. ‘We are so proud of Isaac, he has been very focused this season and his hard work is paying off” said Lee-Roy Newton, group MD.
