Newton Sports Agency Launches Rugby Division

Former Sharks CEO Brian van Zyl to drive new business

Sports marketing agency Newton Sports today announced its expansion into rugby through a partnership with former Sharks CEO Brian van Zyl who will work to develop brand partnerships and drive additional marketing efforts in the sport.

Van Zyl will direct Newton Sport’s commercial rights and player management in rugby at all professional levels. A Durban native, van Zyl was CEO of the Sharks for 19 years during which he built the franchise into one of global rugby’s largest and most profitable institutions. He joins the agency with more than 35 years as a player, coach, provincial selector and administrator.

The new division follow just six months after the launch of its cricket division, which now represents several of South Africa’s brightest cricketing talents.
